I took a quick break from work and my car to go watch other cars! Formula SAE (FSAE) is a collegiate competition organized by SAE International where students design, build, and race small, open-wheel formula-style race cars. This year's event was hosted by the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, and I traveled up there to volunteer. On Thursday, I helped set out cones for the autocross and skid pad. Unfortunately, it was raining and miserably cold, so I didn't get any pics. Today (Friday), I worked timing and scoring for the skid pad. Walking through the pits gave me robotics competition flashbacks mixed with the adrenaline of being at the track on a race weekend. Congrats to all the teams on their unique designs and hard work, and good luck on enduro tomorrow! I can't wait to return to this event as a competitor!

About Me

wmremove-transformed (3) (1)_edited.jpg

Hi! My name is Maya Brandt, and I am a senior at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill. I love cars, robots, and horses! When I'm not at the track or in the lab with my FTC robotics team, you'll probably find me at the barn, on the ski slopes, or reading a book. My favorite book is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
